Thousands of people have lost their homes when a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti on 12 January 2010. Haitians ravaged by the earthquake that devastated their capital begged for food, water and medical assistance on Friday as the world raced to bring aid to survivors before their despair turned to anger.

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) – The United Nations appealed on Friday for more than half a billion dollars for earthquake-ravaged Haiti and said it was already providing aid despite anger among survivors that they are getting nothing.
